This is the Nissan Maxima with Kuwaiti licensed plate from north-east corner of the Arabian Peninsula. Its two-part hood just reminds me of Need for Speed Underground 2, it has BMW 7-Series fascia, BMW M3-like front bumper, Lamborghini style front scissor doors, gullwing rear doors, a Supra-like rear wing and more. More pictures after the break.

According to Car and Driver, Infiniti is readying a direct-injection system for its 3.7-liter V6 and plans to implement it on the refreshed G37 coupe and sedan before the redesigned G arrives in the next three years. A variant of the twin-turbocharged, 3.7-liter direct-injected V6 originally shown in the Essence concept will likely appear in the redesigned M – due in 2010 – and will reportedly put out between 340 and 350 horsepower, but it will not be fitted with the duo of turbos.
While Infiniti recognizes that it could use a successor to the Q45 (the company’s slow-selling full-size sedan last roamed U.S. showrooms in 2006) to compete with the likes of Audi, BMW, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz, the project may be stifled by the floundering economy. Infiniti dealers were evidently shown a concept in Japan earlier this year, assumed to be the next Q, which was essentially a four-door version of the Essence concept that debuted at the Geneva Motor Show. At this point, its future is uncertain.
Larry Dominique, Infiniti’s veep of product planning in the U.S., wants to make sure that the automaker’s resources are focused on its core products – namely the G and M series – but admitted that a QX56 replacement is in the works and will likely debut after 2010 once the redesigned Armada is released.

According to an unnamed “insider,” Citroen is considering launching a separate brand just for eco-friendly vehicles. Earlier this year, the quirky French automaker announced a new high-end brand that would bring premium features to its existing vehicle platforms. Similarly, the first production vehicle under the green brand would echo the C-Cactus concept from the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007 but be built atop the automaker’s C4 platform.
Expect some innovative uses of materials, as previewed on the C-Cactus project, along with a fuel-saving powertrain of some sort. Options include going fully electric, using a hybrid powertrain or using a small three-cylinder diesel engine that would put out less than 100 g/km of carbon emissions. Sounds great, but let’s just hope they don’t keep too much of the melted-candle look of the concept.

The BMW Z10 ED — Efficient Dynamics — is a green supercar that’s out to get the Audi R8. Tech specs are hypothesized to be a high-pressure turbocharged inline six cylinder with 400 hp that would use either a mechanical valve system or BMW’s VANOS system, and run through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Along with electronic stop/start aids, there would be technology to turn exhaust gasses into electricity. With the use of plenty of carbon fiber and aluminum, the car is meant to weigh no more than 3,080 pounds.
Even though it hasn’t stopped Ferrari and Lamborghini, lead BMW designer Adrian Van Hooydonk thinks it might be hard to sell the Z10 with a supercar body in a global recession. Most importantly, though, he wants the car to be a symbol of the future, and to offer an “exciting dynamic experience.” We can’t imagine the sketch is anything go by, unless he also wants the car to try and eat you.

A Nissan GT-R wagon? Not really, “it’s a conversion of the Japanese automaker’s M35 series Stagea wagon, a JDM load-lugger it produced from 2001 to 2007″. Kia World has scored the first official photos of the 2010 Kia Sorento, and from the looks of things, it’s in keeping with the other marked improvements the automaker has been making to its lineup. In fairness, the current Sorento is no ugly duckling, with a shape that’s evocative of the Jeep WJ Grand Cherokee and last-gen Lexus RX. Kia retains a traditional SUV profile with the latest version, but you can see that a thick D-pillar now resides aft of the side glass. In its report, OmniAuto notes that new, larger Sorento will have seven-passenger capability.
The new Sorento doesn’t appear to mess with success, retaining the same basic shape while incorporating Kia’s new, handsome corporate face and a clamshell hood. Its public debut is slated for the Seoul Motor Show next month, and Kia World reports that the the new SUV will be available with a Euro 5-compliant 2.0-liter clean diesel making 200 horsepower and 295-lb-ft of torque. Stateside, expect a 170-horsepower 2.4-liter four and and a 3.8-liter, 260-horse Lambda V6. Koreans also get a 2.7-liter LPG-powered engine. After its Seoul debut, we’d expect to see the Sorento pop up in Manhattan for the New York Auto Show.
